Below expectations.

I shouldn't have left Chemistry down to the last test. Even if I pulled an A on the organic chem unit test, the chances of distributing the spread to my advantage is still very slim. Goodbye honour roll, you were once in my grasp.

Next assignment -- final exams.

Oh boy. Gonna be a helluva two weeks. Can't believe French and English are on the same day. I don't believe I've learned a single new vocabulary word in Gall's class. Will I pass my English final? That's a paradox to examine. Study groups anybody?

Many questions remain for me as summer approaches. Should I get a summer job, or help paint my room? Will this summer be better than last year's or another bust? Some of many questions that I wish someone could help me solve.

Here's a thought. Dwelling in dreams is not a bad thing, but I've got to learn to face the present. It's only in the present where you can secure your future. To do that, I've got to work harder than I've worked before, and love more than I've loved before. I'm lucky that most people around me are forgiving and are still willing to change to a point where they can be accepted. I'm also lucky to have found and met the friends I have today, aware that someday it'll be hard to come by friends like the ones I have. I can only keep looking for new friends, and improve on the relationships I have now. I know in the workplace, competition is fierce and it is truly a dog-eat-dog world there. I've only found this out today.

I have to learn how to play it cool like iced tea. A simile that'll make me miles. Sweet, an alliterated pun.

I wish I had a Macbook.

A housewarming gift

One way to put the past behind and physically move on to the present. The first two days have gone somewhat less smoothly than what I had anticipated. My French mark is hanging at a borderline A - makes me realize that each and every homework assignment is worth attempting. Cutoff for French was last Monday, I'm praying for a 28/32 mark -- only way I'll clinch an A. Math quiz today was just -- whoosh! That's the sound of my A quickly blowing out of my sight. I think I've probably lost out on math this term, as I should try for Biology instead. Honour roll is still vaguely reachable if I follow through with As in French, Physics, English, Biology and Comp. Sci. I'm assuming Chemistry and Math are now out of my reach, close call this term -- much like all other terms. I wonder how I can please the 'rents.

Felix (Number 2) has invaded the PA announcements as of next year. He will be taking over for Felix. Capice? Be nice to him or else sticks and stones won't break your bones, but words, rather, will hurt you. Summarizing this paragraph, I am now the new Publicity Officer. Yay?!

Officially two weeks left until the end of school days.

Two weeks?

Awesome. The first of many do-or-die weeks is approaching. I can feel the growing dread building now.

It's been a good helluva week, being nominated as an executive in the student council, and then watching the votes pile up. Being the only guy in the council, kinda makes me scared, but I'm sure the members at large will support the group quite a bit. We have still yet to vote for a president or distribute positions for the elected executives, but that'll be taken care of sometime next week. I already have my mind set of who's going to be the next council president. Good luck to her. =) Congratulations to all those who made it in, and my consolation to all those who didn't -- hope they'll at least go for being a member at large.

So I attended the final band concert of the year - wondering what my old band sounded like without me. The tedious setlist trend that Mr. Woodward chooses has still continued to now. Not to take anything away from my friends, but I bet I could find more excitement at an acoustic Coldplay concert than Thursday's finale. My firsthand look at the choir met some expectations. Although, given that Woodward was conducting, it wasn't too bad. Strings always seem up to par. Not a bad way to finish off a school year.

Starting from next week, the next four weeks will contribute to massive brainaches and short -term memory training. Good thing is my marks have ever so slowly decided to rise, but the bad thing is they'll mean nothing if I perform below average for the rest of the school year. Time to unbuckle the party belt and hit the books.

AP and friends week

Monday - Math dice roll / Chem lab due / French Unit test
Tuesday - AP Comp. First comes the AP Comp. Sci. Exam. Once that's over, I believe it's Playland and the burden of the labs and calculations that come with it. The Avogadro's Contest is also soon, and I'm actually surprised at the amount of people who signed up for it. Throw in the odd quiz and the guaranteed unit tests for the respective subjects, and May isn't much better off than June.

With June comes the exams and provincials. The goal is to sober up and hammer a phenominal mark to go along with the mark from summer school. After the exams, the world is mine to conquer. Looking forward to the summer, and the limited capacity of freedom in which I can use to harvest a few projects.

I like organizing things when I'm down in spirit. That explains why my room is a complete mess right now. I wish I had the money to completely revamp the band room and my bedroom into something more exciting. Turning trash into something brilliant helps raise my self-esteem to a new high. That's quite sad, but true. It's like performing a "Pimp My Ride" or any Home and Garden show around my environment. Yeah, don't ask me what's on my television. I should set up a trust fund for myself - the Support the Felix Foundation.

There's a few things I really, really want in the future. I wish to purchase a nice suite in an apartment in Vancouver for my parents. This house is literally a dump, granted that most people think otherwise. They are not aware of the maintenance and the required housekeeping to keep it in this shape. An apartment with a nice view is just a small favour in return of what I owe to them. I also want a bachelor pad for myself too. Whether it will be in Vancouver or somewhere else is yet to be determined. I wouldn't mind a roommate or a dog for company. Would be sweet if I could patch up a soundproof room for recording purposes, I'm still a big fan of that. A custom home theatre system would help causes too. I guess I wouldn't commit to a serious relationship until somewhere in my late 20s or around my 30s. I want to live a party live, man. Does it mean that I won't have sex before marriage? That'll remain to be seen as time comes. One last thing I would want to work hard for is to travel east or maybe even the States to earn a Masters in something. Don't want to be stuck in boring, old Vancouver all the time. I, myself, would benefit from a change of scenary. If I can manage to burrow my way through and land a job doing something in computers, whether it be with hardware or software, I hope to also entrepreneur something in the music industry, maybe something like a studio for increasingly popular starving indie artists. Maybe like something I've been trying to create for the past months.

These dreams will not come if I do not commit any effort into it. I realize that it is becoming increasing difficult to find a living in the IT field, so I hope I am able to excel at this. Meanwhile, I hope my side projects and minimum wage jobs can feed me enough to live a life slightly better than paycheck to paycheck. If I ever make it away from the povery line, I promise to either start or donate some of my money to a good charity, hopefully increasing the speed to find that exclusive cure for cancer.

I cannot choose where my friends go, but I can choose whether they'll be close to me no matter where they go. I hope to make more on the way.

Dream on brother, dream on.

Premiere jour

Today was a day not well accomplished.

I can't believe how boring a day gets if I stay at home watching the minutes pass away. Truth betold, I better start job hunting so my summer doesn't end up this way.

The media stereotypes highschool life perfectly - there ARE different groups segregated within each other every day. I still don't know which one I belong to. There are some that I could actually "work" to be in, but then I wouldn't be myself, would I? As long as I can hold onto the last year or so, and hopefully get accepted east, then I can finally live a life that is my own.

I don't think I can ever live a day without knowing what the future beholds, but then I'm not the one who really goes with the flow. There are so many projects and activities I want to accomplish before this summer's end, some that may never ever set foot, however. I know myself too well, just like today, I end up wasting my time thinking about what could have been. Sometimes I wish I had a peer who could order me around, while at the same time I could share my opinions with. Sort of like a girlfriend, but that's definately not the road I'm seeking.

There are many aspects of highschool life I will never full grasp and understand. I'll never understand why, no matter how much I try or change, why some people can't accept me for who I am. Or why I'm truncated out of people's plans. I'll never understand why some people still go back to themselves, even after they are aware of the propensity of the mistake they made. Some people would do anything they can in order to get on people's "good" side. This is called sucking dick. I believe this can also be found at a real world near you. I think this prepares me of what I have to deal with in a competitor's "monde". There's nothing much to do but to either quit or suck dick into your way of becoming an executive. Now that's life.

As you read this, do you believe in second chances? I surely do. It is not to my knowledge why some people seem nice upon the first impression, but a few months later, their lavish, warm personality tarnishs quicker than a sweat shop in an Asian country. I guess if one person becomes too friendly with another person of the opposite sex, then their friends would do their best to disapprove of it. Shit, I guess Canada ain't that free after all. Maybe I oughta live in China, where there's no time to give a shit for anything. Maybe I'll start living.

I don't get anything at all. Maybe people are all secretly backstabbing me and I'm not aware of it. Maybe the maybes are all true. But this is all a part of life. Celebrities go through it all the time; the media bloats and propagates gossip out of proportion. What do they do? Well, some OD, some bang a bunch of groupies, some break a few cameras and others choose to do nothing. I'll stick with nothing, after all, these are supposed to be the happiest days of my life.

Dazed and confused.

A deep breath

A non-cinderella story..

The Easter bunny presents to me a week of hell

Four tests and three labs due in the next three days.

I knew these 4-day weeks would be killer.

At least I got Physics done.

Chem was just a bitch.

Msg if you want the pw.

Hit the books! I should get my three labs finished tomorrow - Physics, Chemistry, and APCSA. Must literally hit the books too, with a Math and Physics test and quiz, respectively, right around the corner. Not to forget about English, which I almost did, the Lord of the Flies final is also next week -- shit, son! The four day weeks are eventually going to catch up with me, as teachers will account for all the lost classes and assign more homework over the weekend. I'll be a happy camper once I get the AP exam over first. I had to drop the idea of counselling for ODS, because I've decided to go run for executive for Student Council, a seemingly difficult task as I've heard many people are also rumoured to run for the six avaliable positions. Shoot, I should have applied for Grad Council as a safety net.

Vote for Felix Cheung, Gr. 12 executive =)

One last core meltdown

It's been a rollercoaster ride for the Canucks and their fans this year. Certainly not meeting up to par in terms of reaching the playoffs, but some Canucks have played out their hearts throughout the season. Tomorrow night will probably mark the last time the Canucks so-called "core" will play together ever again, something Nonis once believed could garner a playoff birth. Give your team one last applause for a disappointing, but entertaining year.

Summer should bring forth proposals made to shape up a much different roster than the one we will see tomorrow. I will begin and start to rip into their depth chart right now. I don't believe Todd Bertuzzi will stay as a Canuck. The Canucks will elect to trade his premium salary mainly to free up cap space. Cloutier's days are probably numbered too, we have see great stretches of brilliance by Auld, who is a steal for his contract. Morrison's chances of another season is in the bubble right now - his subpar performance the past years has certainly decreased his value. The deadline acquisitions - Brown, Carney and Weinrich have not demonstrated enough promise to give them another shot in a Canucks uniform, although Brown may be offered an AHL contract. Richard Park was nearly invisable after a string of injuries, so don't expect him to be back. Linden and retirement. Those two words may be more closely related than Auld and Noronen's receding hairline. He might give it one more push for the Cup, only if he believes the management have patched together a makeshift team for a good run. He deserves to wear the C in the final game.

With the departure of the names mentioned above, the Canucks should be able to resign Carter and negotiate with the Sedins. If the price is right, Jovonovski would re-up with the organization for a few more years. Noronen would have to assume backup duties when training camp starts, as Auld is the new man for the team. These moves would shift the dreaded twin and Carter combination as the #1 line, and move Naslund down to the second line. Extra cap space and money should allow the Canucks to shop for an adequate centre and winger for Naslund. If not, Cooke is likely to move up, with Ruutu on the wing. Kesler is slighted to play on third line duties, with wingers like Bouck or King. Watch the management reel in third line players who would be up to the challenge to infuse energy and enthusiasm into the club. Although Burrows has been a great pickup for the Canucks, he is simply not the piece the team needs to be of championship caliber. Expect some prospects to make the jump and fill the avaliable positions. Bieska and Baumgartner look to be the odd piece out with Bourdon ready to become a pro. I hope Bourdon to play just as well as Phaneuf, although he won't have nearly as much exposure. Don't forget, the elimination means the Canucks will receive a top 15 pick in the upcoming 2006 entry draft, hosted in Vancouver. Either the brass will use this as a means to obtain a quality player, or draft a prospect in a not-so deep pool. I don't think Cory Schneider will ever become a number one goalie in a Vancouver uniform, and I wouldn't be surprised if he or another goaltender (McVicar or Mensator) was dealt for another prospect. Ouelette has absolute lost all of Crawford's confidence. Speaking of Crawford, the chances of the Crow getting the axe is high as well.

All of this makes for a promising off-season, as the city is still mourning over what went wrong.

Still faithful. Canucks for the Cup, 2007.

Fraser Institute rankings

Okay. Without basketball and drama, our school is sufficient academically, right? Wrong. 41st out of 281st (in BC) is pretty bad, considering Sentinel is one of the best academic public schools.

Stats don't really reflect on how a school and its students are performing. Most private schools don't accept special needs students anyway, therefore the deviation of the marks is somewhat less.

I love the school and environment I'm in now, and I wouldn't trade it away for another home. It just occurred to me that three months have passed by already, meaning graduation is just nearly a year away. The path of my future still is muddled - I have little idea of where I'm going, and what I'm going to study. I'm doing so meagerly in Math 12 right now, it's not even funny. The self-appointed goal is to prepare for the provincials, but at least get a mark suitable to give a chance for honour roll.

What a slack school day. Of course it included an English class dedicated to doing Bio study charts, and a unfulfilling test in Comp. Sci, but there wasn't really anything holding my interest. At least I didn't show up to Chem late this time. I should pick up the pace and go all out for the last three months. Speaking of the next three months, they're going to be a hectic one.

Important Dates for April to June
April
<s>1 - Openhouse at Sutherland Church (7pm)
3 - Physics 14 mark Quiz
3 - French "La Pauvre" MC Quiz
6 - Planning Aspects Due
6,7,8 - Handsworth School Play: Women of Mass Destruction (7pm)
14-17 - Easter Weekend
15 - Last regular season Canucks game</s>
18 - Last day of the NHL season
18 - LOTF Final Test
19 - Euclid Contest
19 - Physics Test/Lab Due
19 - Chemistry Lab Due
20 - Math Chapter 8 Test
22-24 - Long weekend

May
2 - AP Computer Science Exam
5 - SoJam Recording Session (tentatively)
5 - Professional Development Day
9 - Physics Field Trip to Playland
11 - Florence's Birthday
17 - Avogadro's Contest
30 - Marianas Trench's Fix Me CD Release

June
9 - Gina's Birthday
23 - Math 12 Exam (1-3pm)

The NHL season is winding down right now, and it's stretch time for the proven playoff contenders. Unless something breaks down with the Canucks right now, it seems like a pretty safe bet that they will make the playoffs. That's good, because that means more parties for me =)

Let the weekend begin!

Kiss March goodbye

March is drawing to a close, as nearly every single limb in my body is aching. Yet, it feels like the beginning of term one. I believe I'm still the same person from five months ago today - always procrastinating, while the work never gets completed.

This will have to change. I will accept any bet against the fact that I will make honour roll. Actually, it's a good bet for the other person, as I'm required to register a minimum of 5 A's. Math 12 is the backstabber of my year. As I'm obtaining a C+ average, my plan is to learn the materials and study hard for the provincials. Hopefully, I can use the mark from the provincials and combine it with a hardworking mark in summer school. My goal is a 95% average, is this achievable? I sure damn wish so.

United Handsworth Club presented the International Festival a couple of days ago. I found it a success, judging from the projected estimate of guests to the extraordinary amount of people who actually came. The displays created were all nothing short of impressive - Yaraghi and Iran totally went all out. Yaraghi spent $300 alone on food, and most of it was given away for free at the end of the night! I swear she had a mini-sweat shop going in her classroom at the end of the school day, with eight students diligently distributing and wrapping food and plates. Hell, they weren't even paid. Good night of festivities overall, learned a whole lot of things; not only about countries, but about people too. Something I'll consider next year again.

April and May around the corner, I'll post my schedule when I've got it sorted out.

Vote me as executive for Student Council?

Fun's over, go back to school

Fall is here, hear the yell, back to school, ring the bell.

Okay, it's not fall, but the weather is so unpredictable these days. Well, it's time to patch together one more stretch run before the exams begin and aim for the honour roll.

Not much to tell about Uvic. It's Men's basketball team came second in the CIS finals this weekend, good effort by them. The campus itself is pretty small and victorian (no pun intended) compared to a place like UBC, but the atmosphere is friendly, as the rabbits are the main feature. Obviously, I still look forward to a place in Ontario for postsecondary education, despite the recent brushings of the law that the media seems to report every day.

This break really did disappoint in terms of excitement, but it was, as I said earlier, a well-deserved rest. I managed to destroy one of my computer's OS in less than two hours after my dad left for the airport. So, I spent the entire weekend reformatting my computer and the only thing it lacks now is an open port to BitTorrent (which I can't quite figure out why) and Microsoft Word. Somehow, of ALL the programs it decided to replace, the recovery disc didn't recover Word and now I don't have a damn word processing tool at all. Computers are an annoyance to all.

Marcus Naslund is -17 in the season.
Todd Bertuzzi is -18.

Play some fucking defence, instead of hitting into each other open ice.

Leading by example, my ass.

A law-abiding break

Unlike what I had promised to Laura Macleod, I haven't had the most exciting break of my life. But that's okay. This is a well deserved rest - yes, well deserved and quite possibly the last surge of energy before the final examinations. Spent the last couple of days watching season four of 24 with my dad. Damn, that's one hell of a tv series. What the hell happens to Behrooz? Poor kid.

Going to Uvic tomorrow, should be a good investment of time and might prove useful in the future. Rain or shine, the spirit in the campus should be full of energy.

I plan to out my remaining days of the student proclaimed holiday to good use. A probable UHC meeting will take place on Saturday, and things will work their way out from there. I believe our ultimate head honcho, Derrick Kim, is taking things a bit too fervently. Good things will come to him in the future, but I hope he won't suffer a breakdown or anything - he's a good kid.

I shall take off now.

Canucks need a top line.

The arrival of Spring Break

Spring Break has arrived! For me, this could not have come at a better time. A time to physically and mentally refresh, and catch up on the life outside of studying and dead facts. I will use this to also kick start a bunch of projects I've been planning for a few months now. Also, it's another week to catch up on school, since I've slacked off the past couple of weeks.

Our Senior Boys Basketball has made it to the finals, and I'm debating whether to go to the game or stay home and watch the reeling Canucks. That's not a very tough choice, but I'll have to see who I can bum a ride off of.

Rejuvinate, relax and enjoy.

New Canucks in town

Look what the GM has dragged in. This was the mainstay of my day: I had my walkman plugged into the Team 1040 from the beginning of Biology to the end of my Physics block. With these deals, the Canucks got older, more wiser and adds depth to their lackluster, patchwork defence. Mika Norenen was by far the steal of the trades made today. For a second round pick, the Canucks receive a goaltender most critics tout as the next Kipprusoff - that's an amazing feat on its own. Weinrich and Carney add grit and experience to the team's backend, but don't expect either of them to make an impact on the scoresheet too much. Sean Brown cannot be touted as a top 4 defenceman, but if Nonis sees what I see in Butenshoun, I believe Brown can add more of a presence than the latter. Obviously, these deals were a stopgap for the holes the Canucks needed to fill for a playoff run. However, they only gave up a few picks and prospects in Brett Skinner, Thomas Mojzis, and a sixth man in Steve McCarthy to free up cap space. Am I excited for this run? You bet.

Coundown towards Spring Break

Any week before a somewhat long vacation leaves me in a great state of languishness. The Physics presentation was what I expected - fair and pedestrian. Both marks for the French and Biology projects came as a surprise because they were subjacent to the efforts the whole group put in. However, I was fully aware that the teachers have their own marking rubic to follow through, and that meeting the information required for them could be a challenge. The Math quiz was also what I had presumed; Turner would put a question or two that was meant to test a student's ability to critically grasp their understanding of the unit. Follow this week with the Physics Quest and French Unite C Test, and my Spring Break should metaphorically symbolize a big squeeze ball. But wait - following Spring Break is both a Math and Chemistry Unit Test, in addition to the United Handsworth Club presenting the "International Festival", which discriminates nations rather than promoting it. I mean, nobody is repping the United States, but someone is doing the Philippines? Is there even a Flip in our school? If there was, I'd see him in the gym trying to pull And One moves on white boys. Ultimately, the UHC spells work over the Spring Break. I'll name this: "Operation Canada". Let me say this, Operation Canada will SUCK. I don't have a strain on confidence in the group assigned to the task, as I know all of us are in for the credibility. Well, while we're in this rut, why not make the best damn impression out of the whole fair?

Course outline finally relinquished to the counselling office. The course that made the final cut were:

English 12

Calculus 12 (Not AP; that's just killer)

Physics 12

Chemistry 12

Biology 12

French 12

Portfolio 12 & Planning 12

Accounting 11/Digital Media 12 (Those were alternatives)

I don't know why I'm taking all three sciences, I'll probably drop Biology when school resurrects from the Summer break. Fields I have interests in going into are:

Computer Science

Business

General Science

Arts

My impression on being a Physicist, Chemist and Biologist can be determined by the following story. This is a tale of the three different scientists: a physicist, a chemist and a biologist. The chemist has the ability to combine elements into something powerful, something potentially dangerous. One day, the chemist builds an hydrogen bomb and decides to detonate it over the Earth, just because he (or she, because I'm not sexist) is evil. The physicist is able to calculate the velocity of the travelling nuclear weapon, and manages to jump off a building at the speed of sound, just to avoid humuliation from the chemist. Needless to say, I don't think he lived. Days later, the biologist (who knows how he survived) analyzes how the people died and writes about their contribution to the environment on Earth. Because no one was there to read his publishings (not that anyone cared before, anyway), radioactivity caused both his paper to decay in a half-life of a day and radiation claimed the life of the biologist. The chemist then accidently blew himself up in a lab because he forgot his Chemistry 11, and tried to add electrons in the non-existant X orbital. Silly people, science is for kids.

I hope the Canucks get Brandon Witt. A nice dose of heart and soul for the club.

Term Two Valediction

Bring it back to: Vancouver 2010

So we didn't win a medal in Men's Hockey, but we acheived an all-time high of 24 medal - that's pretty impressive. At first I thought, "Wow, only 24? That's so shitty." But I realized that this was NOT the Summer Olympics, in which Canada only won 12 medals (in comparison to the US's 103). Well done, I am proud of you Canada!

One more week until Spring Break, yet it seems still so far out of reach. Another project is required, this time from Physics. A Math quiz and French unit test will contest and separate those in Mardi Gras and those who still have their hearts in books.

The second term has officially ended today, time to try for term three. Apparently it's the longest of all them all. Don't forget that there was a labour dispute during the first term, and that the second term was actually a mere two months of marks. I'm content with my honourable mention status, although I know I can do much better. Still, I'm disappointed myself this year both academic and socialwise. This hasn't really been a year to remember, rather it's a year to reflect in the past and determine the future - something that's in my mind everyday.

Term 3, Here We Go!

The Funguys Series

The meat and bones of a well planned Biology weekend project. Yet again, PCs are easier to mod and are fairly cheaper.

"Bio Video Project" is underway. Still looking for a cameraman and an extra. The script needs a lot of polishing due to monotony and textbook based. A work in progress, definately.

It seemed like ages ago that I would admire and wonder how cousins and siblings of friends would go through the later stages of highschool in order to get to a University. Now, I take on that role and everything seems so much clearer. Quizzes, projects, tests, and essays come and go, but I welcome more and more. I realize now that report cards pretty much rely on those for marks, and these marks then go onto the transcript for University. However, I lust for my time back in elementary grades as I will miss growing up.

Cherish my remaining one and a half years now.

Foreword

The week is finally over.

Time to start off fresh once again and recuperate.
